Soya Nuggets is an excellent source of protein and has a lot of health benefits too. This gravy is medium spicy so its suitable for kids too. For every 100 gms of Soya nuggets we get 51 gms of protein, 3 grams of dietary fibre, 2011 mg of potassium. Green peas good source of Vitamin A & C and Iron. So over all the combination is very good and especially for kids it would be bountiful…! 😊

Soya nuggets are tasteless and absorb the taste of the curry, so putting less spices will give the soya nuggets a very pleasant taste, this would be more suitable for korma kind of curry bases. Preparation with soya nuggets is very easy no peeling, cutting like normal vegetables 😊

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup Soya Nuggets
  • ¾ Cup Fresh Green Peas
  • 2 tbsp Kaju/Cashew Paste
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Cream
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Onion Diced Finely
  • 1/4 cup peanuts coarsely grinded
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste

To Temper

  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Bay leaves

Instructions

How to Make Soya Nuggets and Peas Curry ?

  1. First soak the soya nuggets in hot water and clean them thoroughly, do this for almost 2 to 3 times to get rid of the raw smell.
  2. Take a deep pan and heat oil and put the items under the tempering list and fry them for a minute or two.
  3. Then add the diced onion and fry till they are translucent, add the ginger garlic paste and the dry masalas i.e. chilli, garam masala, and fry them till leaves edges of the pan.
  4. Add the kaju paste and some water so that it cooks well and mixes well the masalas.
  5. At this stage add the soya nuggets and green peas again add water and cook for around 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. As you see the gravy get thicker add the coarsely grinded peanuts and mix it and cook further for 3 to 4 minutes. Let there be gravy as soya nuggets will absorb and the gravy will eventually thicken.
  7. Add the fresh cream and stir it nicely before serving..

  8. This curry can be done in pressure cooker method, this very popular as it easy cook soya nuggets in pressure cooker.

Recipe Notes

Note: If you pressure cook the curry put the kaju paste and peanuts powder after you remove the curry from the cooker and cook it further and then allow it rest for some time before you serve it. By pressure cooking the soya nuggets get soft and tend to absorb the flavour in the curry making it more flavourful to eat.
