Bread Potato Upma is one my wife’s and daughter’s favorite snacks, one monsoon/rainy day she made it for us and I instantly loved it. Its spicy, hearty and goes well with chai. Its very easy to make, I’m amazed at the simplicity of the dish, which is so tasty and quick to make, with just two ingredients.

  • 10 to 12 slices of Brown Bread
  • 4 nos Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil for Frying


How to make Bread Potato Upma ?

  1. Cut the bread slice into ½ inch squares, cut the potatoes into small thin slices, mix the chilli powder and salt into the potatoes nicely.
  2. In a deep pan take oil and put the potato mixture and fry them till they are cooked and become bit crispy.
  3. Put in the sliced bread and fry till you feel the masala have been well coated all over the bread evenly.
  4. Serve the Bread Potato Upma with hot tea/chai/coffee…!

Recipe Notes

Note: Keep the sliced/diced potato in water till you use them, prevent it from discolouring. Mixing of spice into the potatoes, if done with hand, please make sure you wash the hands …..!
