Idli / Dosa Batter
This below recipe is classic recipe for Idli/Dosa batter taken from my mom’s kitchen, tried and tested for decades. Below have given two version of batter one with idli rava and boiled rice.
Note: that batter made with idli rava cannot be used for making dosa, dosa can be made only with batter made with boiled rice. Below have given the detailed recipe for the same.
Rava Version:
Ingredients:
- Urad Dal 1 cup
- Idli Rava 4 cups
- Poha/Avalakki ½ cup
- Methi Seeds ½ tsp
- Rock salt as required
Method:
- Soak all the ingredients for 6 hours.
- Grind to fine paste after soaking and ferment for 8 to 12 hrs.
- Add salt during grinding as required.
Rice Version:
Ingredients:
- Urad Dal 1 cup
- Boiled Rice 3 cups
- Poha/Avalakki ½ cup
- Methi Seeds ½ tsp
- Rock salt as required
