Uttarakhand is a land of natural beauty, uniquely Uttarakhand is bordering Nepal, Tibet and surrounded by the towering Himalaya’s, Uttarakhand is filled with natural beauty with abundance of forests, national parks, mountains, holy places teaming with a lot of options for adventure sports, trekking making it worth the time and money spent on travelling in Uttarakhand.

During Diwali, with my entire family, we planned an outing for 9 days travelling around some of the Uttarakhand’s exotic destinations i.e. Haridwar, Rishikesh, Jim Corbett National Park, Nainital and finally ended with Agra which is situated in Uttar Pradesh.

Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar – Rishikesh

We hired  the vehicle (tempo traveller – 9 seater)  from a company named Delhi Rent Car Tour (please click here for the review on TripAdvisor), we were picked from Delhi Airport and on our way to Haridwar, for breakfast we camped at “Saravana Bhavan – Janpath”, we again hit the road to Haridwar along the way we saw  “Akshardham” passing through from the road.

As we were running short of time because a lot of traffic near Delhi and took a lot of our time getting out of Delhi, we decided to hit Haridwar first and see the aarti and then go to Rishikesh where we had made of our stay arrangements @ Ganga Resort (GMVN Property).

Day 2: Rishikesh

At around 6.30 am went to take a dip in the Ganges, the water was pristine clear and was flowing at a very fast pace. We all went to the Ganga ghat next to resort Ganga Resort. But the water was so chilling cold, it was raining and also it was so breezy that we could not dip in the Ganges, but we could take the water and have a shower on the banks itself.

We had our breakfast and went out to see Rishikesh the van stopped at Lakshman jhula and went around Rishikesh crossed Lakshman jhula, went to ram jhula by jeep and then we went to the Beatles ashram and came back to see the Ganga Aarti at Swami Narayan Ashram on the way we had lunch at Chotiwala restaurant. We visited The Beatles Ashram and headed back to the resort for the aarti @ Swaminarayan Ghat @ 6.30 pm.

Day 3: Haridwar and Journey to Jim Corbett Park

We headed to Haridwar on day 3 from Rishikesh, at Haridwar we visited the Hari ki Pauri ghat and Chandi Matta Temple. Then we headed to Jim Corbett National Park, we reached Corbett Wood Resort (Jim Corbett National Park) at around 8.00 pm.

Day 5: Journey to Bimtal

We departed from Corbett Wood Resort after having lunch and stopped at the Corbett Museum on the way to Bimtal where we bought some souvenirs. We reached Bimtal @ 7.00 pm, we were put up at Tag Resorts Lavanya, Bimtal. Please click here for the review of Tag Resort Lavanya.

Day 6: Nainital and Bimtal

We drove to Nainital after over breakfast, at Nainital we visited a couple of places/points at Nainital and drove back to the resort by evening, it was biting cold and would have been around 5 Degrees.

Day 7: Journey to Delhi

On the 7th Day, we left from Bimtal to Delhi on the way we had lunch at Udpiwala, Kathgodam Nainital Road. We reached Delhi at 5.30 pm. We booked our tickets to Agra by next day train and booked our stay @ Basil Inn Guest House.

Day 8: To Agra

We reached Agra by 12.00 AM, booked a taxi for Fatehpur Sikri and reached the hotel by @ Basil Inn Guest House. We went to dinner at Bikanerwala, Fatehabad Road, Tajganj, Agra.

Day 9: Agra Taj Sight Seeing & Return to Delhi

We left early in the morning @ 5.30 AM for Taj Mahal sightseeing, from Taj we went to Agra Fort and went and picked our baggage from @ Basil Inn Guest House and left to Delhi to catch our flight back to Mumbai @ 11.30 PM.
