Best place to have the South-Indian breakfast. Age old place have always tried to ask my parents to come along never was successful, first time this time we were along with my wife, daughter and my both parents and my elder brother too. We parked our vehicle diagonally opposite to the restaurant where you have paid parking, thank god we got a place to park immediately.
We were guided upstairs, it’s double storied restaurant and had to wait for around 15 to 20 minutes before we got our seats, we were taken pretty inside to be seated and the waiter went for a couple of minutes. So, we had already had worked up what we would order i.e. Masala Dosas for everyone, then we ordered Gulab Jamun, Pongal and finally filter coffee for everyone. Since it was way past lunch time every one was quite hungry.
The taste still lingers on my tongue, the dosa is out of the world simply amazing. The best part is ghee which is given in small cup on every dosa its cute and adds amazing flavour to the dosa. Finally, the Rates are very reasonable compared to the legacy it carries and the quality they have been delivering.
We had rush to my brothers place in Koramangala so we left immediately, will visit again during my visit to Bangalore in May.
History: As the legend goes by in 1920 the Maiya Brother’s came to Bangalore in search of better opportunities. In 1924, Brahmin Coffee Club came into being a venture of 2 of the 3 brothers. This was post one of the brothers passing away.
A chance trip to Europe by one of the brothers in 1951 changed their perspective about hygiene and food. Equipped with better knowledge, he introduced sterilization of utensils, hygiene in preparation and serving. They also renamed it to Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, which today is popularly known to every one as MTR. It shifted to its current location on Lalbagh Road in 1960.
