Moong dal Laddu/Laddoo Recipe
Laddu or laddoo are circle/round- shaped sweets/desserts began in the Indian subcontinent. Laddus are made of flour, Ghee/Vegetable oil/oil and sugar, what makes it versatile is that it can be made out of various ingredients combinations such as besan/gram flour, moondal, boondi, semolina, khoya, desiccated coconut, Maida/refined flour, milk, sugar and many combinations as per the region and their traditions.
These sweets are generally made during festive or religious occasions like Diwali, Dussehra, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi and Weddings.
Moong Dal Laddu is very simple yet tasty laddu to savour on major festive or religious occasions. Its made of Moong Dal, Sugar, Ghee and Chopped Cashew nuts as major ingredients. No matter your age from kids to adults it can be savoured, you just can’t stop yourself from having Moong Dal Laddu.
Moong dal Laddu/Laddoo Recipe

Ingredients
- 250 Gms Moong Dal
- 400 Gms Sugar
- 1 pinch Elachi Powder
- 150 Gms Ghee
- 50 Gms Chopped Cashews
Instructions
How to Make Moong Dal Laddu ?

Heat a Skillet and dry roast the Mongdal and powder sugar and the dal after they cool down a bit.

Mix both sugar and moong dal powder and Elachi and keep it aside.

Heat the ghee and drop the chopped cashew nuts and roast them till they are tad brown. Add the roasted cashews to the mixed moong dal powder and mix it thoroughly.

When the powder is warm, roll them into small balls / laddus to be served later or whenever required.
Recipe Notes
When rolling the powder into laddus if found problem with bonding one can add one or two tsp of ghee to roll into a laddu.
These laddus can be stored and had latter, it can be stored for at least 20 to 30 days.

I never heard about the Moong dal Laddu/Laddoo Recipe especially about some of the ingredients you used. It’s good to learn about new ingredients and try different tastes.
Are you able to add flavors to laddu? Such as vanilla, cocoa or cinnamon?
You can probably add cinnamon not any other flavor, as they do not go along, thanks for going through my post.

Hi, Ghee is clarified Butter or melted butter (Unsalted), Moong/Mung Dal is also called as Split Yellow Gram, If not in the grocery store then you can find it any local indian store.. hope this helps….

Laddo looks like some yummy boiled potatoes that I take with sauce. Anyway, it looks much delicious since it has dessicated coconut. Yummy!
