Yellow Pumpkin Halwa/Kaddu Halwa
We normally get two types of pumpkins one is white and yellow, both are equally good in their own way. Usually on occasions white is used for sweet and yellow pumpkin is used for savoury dishes. Pumpkin halwa or Kaddu Halwa is for fasting or vrat. One often prepares this yellow pumpkin halwa during the Navratri/dussehra fasting period.
One could use jaggery or cane sugar for yellow pumpkin halwa recipe, the difference i.e. colour and taste will vary in both cases. It’s very simple and easy to cook Yellow Pumpkin Halwa.

- 250 Gms Yellow Pumpkin Peeled and Cubed
- ¾ Cup Sugar
- ½ tsp Elachi Powder
- 2 to 3 tbsp Mixed Dry Fruits
- 2 tbsp Melon Seeds Magag ki Dana
- 3 tbsp Ghee
Instructions
How to Prepare Yellow Pumpkin Halwa ?

Take a cooker or handi and put one tbsp of ghee. (Have used an Handi)

Put the yellow pumpkin cubed and cook till pumpkin becomes soft. (Approx. 7 to 8 minutes)

Smash the pumpkin and cook further for minute or so, add sugar, Elachi powder and cook till sugar melts and the mixture start getting thick.

Now put the heat to low and cook for around 5 to 10 minutes. This for the water to evaporate.

Take a tempering pan, heat the remaining ghee, put the dry fruits and fry it for a second or two.

Put the roasted dry fruits into the halwa mixture, add melon seeds i.e. Magag ki Dana and mix the halwa nicely and kept for resting around 5 to 10 minutes.

Yellow Pumpkin Halwa can be served as dessert at the end of the meals/Lunch and dinner or in the evening.
